Rope – Skipping
Rope-Skipping as a CCA started in 2009. Without a strong history and background in the sports, the CCA started from scratch. We have come a long way since the formation. We have done well in the North Zone competitions since then. Rope-skipping is a sport that is beneficial to the body in general. It is a basic sport that anyone can take up. The skills that rope-skippers learn will make skipping more interesting and fun.
What will your child learn?
Your child will learn better psycho-motor coordination as he/she learns various rope skipping techniques and the different ways of skipping. Individually, they will learn how to do the single bounce, double bounce, double under etc. They will also learn how to present their rope skipping skills in an artistic form known as Creative Rope Skipping.
Your child will be expected to be moderately fit and healthy to be able to participate fully andeffectively in the sport. Your child also needs to have a growth mindset that he/she can become better after some time and not to expect that he/she will be able to master the skills in a short span of time.
Concern and challenges
Why is there a need for training and extra hours invested?
The training sessions during the normal CCA hours are useful in getting the rope skippers to build up on their stamina and strength and the core muscles needed for the sports. However, the ones who have more potential will need to invest time and effort in the extra training sessions to be able to master the skills in a shorter period of time and to be able to be competition-ready.
What can the child benefit from training and competition?
While mastering the skills, be it individually or as a team, they will learn the values of self-awareness, self-discipline and perseverance. The chance to interact with other schoolmates will also allow them to build on their social skills.

National Primary Schools Rope Skipping Championships 2015
We are proud to say that we are 1st out of 14 participating schools for the Senior Boys Double Dutch event in the National National Primary Schools Rope Skipping Championships 2015 and 2nd out of 15 participating schools in the Junior Boys Double Dutch event.
This is a first for the Rope Skipping CCA as we have only gotten one trophy (3rd) in the Nationals in 2012 and one trophy (1st) in the Nationals in 2014.
This is the first time that we have clinched more than one title in the National Championships.
We hope to continue with the achievements in the years to come.
